Responsible Applications of AI in Business and Work
UNCSTD
The rapid integration of artificial intelligence into global business and labor markets has prompted the CSTD to prioritize responsible governance of these technologies. In 2025, AI is being used widely in sectors like finance, healthcare, logistics, and customer service, boosting efficiency but also raising ethical, legal, and labor concerns. Many developing countries struggle to compete or regulate effectively, deepening digital divides and exposing workers to automation-related displacement without adequate protections.
The CSTD now faces the challenge of promoting innovation while ensuring inclusive, rights-based AI deployment. Delegates must evaluate global standards for transparency, data privacy, algorithmic accountability, and fair labor transitions. Key areas of focus include public-private cooperation, international knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building for developing nations to adopt AI safely and equitably in their economies.
