Disparities in Global Healthcare
WHO
Disparities in global healthcare continue to pose a significant challenge to international health systems, as access to medical services, essential medicines, and trained healthcare professionals remains uneven across regions. Low- and middle-income countries are disproportionately affected by underfunded health infrastructure, workforce shortages, and limited access to life-saving treatments. These inequalities were further exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which highlighted gaps in preparedness, vaccine distribution, and emergency response capacity.
Within the WHO, discussions center on strengthening universal health coverage, improving health system resilience, and addressing the social and economic determinants of health. Delegates must evaluate strategies for international cooperation, sustainable financing, and equitable resource allocation. Emphasis is placed on closing healthcare gaps while promoting prevention, innovation, and long-term health security for all populations.
